The 1.0 build launched simultaneously on Steam and Xbox. There is no PS5 or Switch version, and the developers have not announced one.

What are the two new regions?

1.0 adds Sandswept Highlands and Hollow Marsh, together increasing the world area by roughly 40 percent.

  • Sandswept Highlands is a desert plateau with ruins, late-game farm space, new crops and minerals, and a hostile enemy type called Floaters. It also contains the Prometheus Station, where research deliveries trade for unique mod blueprints.
  • Hollow Marsh sits between the highland cliffs, with blue grass, red water and a giant Starfall Tree. It is the quieter of the two regions and a strong source of atmospheric building materials.

Both regions are physically reachable from the start, even though their content is tuned for the late game. You can scout them early; you cannot safely farm them early.

Does 1.0 have an ending?

Yes. The main story now concludes, and the achievement Hero of the Frontier is tied to finishing it. The ending does not lock you out of the world: you can keep farming, finish collections and chase the remaining achievements after the credits.

Two neighbor questlines run alongside the main path:

  • Diane unlocks animal breeding and the ranch side of the farm.
  • Ulf unlocks giant tree sprouts and the Seed Splicer Mk2 and Mk3.

Both lines are worth finishing before the final deliveries. They add tools that make the endgame farm much less manual.

What changed in automation?

Automation is the biggest systemic change:

  • Automation Pipes replace the old Automator. Pipes connect Storage Sheds, Crafting Constructs, generators and water systems.
  • Automation starts at Milestone 4, much earlier than before.
  • Storage Sheds have an Output toggle and a Resource Filter. A shed can accept only one material and feed it directly into a production line.
  • Each Crafting Construct can hold three automated recipes and skips a recipe when its inputs are missing instead of stalling the whole queue.
  • Drones now run on electricity, not fuel, and Drone Station III is available at the top tier.

The practical effect is that a mid-game farm can run furnaces, sawmills and seed extractors without a player standing next to them. The automation guide → has the pipe rules and working layouts.

How did farming change?

Four changes matter more than the rest:

  1. Seed Stacking. From Seed Shooter Mk4, several seeds can go into one mound, boosting yield.
  2. Mutation harvests give both versions. A mutated crop now drops the mutated produce and a normal unit, so a mutation is never a loss.
  3. Mulch versus Fertilizer. The old fertilizer was renamed Mulch and changes the mound type. The new Fertilizer only raises yield and does not alter soil.
  4. Four new crops. 1.0 adds four crops in the new regions. The base eight still cover the three soil types, and the rotation loop is unchanged.

The crop rotation chart → reflects the 1.0 rules, including the HUD preview that shows the next mound type before planting.

How did the mech change?

The mech progression was rebuilt from the ground up:

  • Tools, parts and transform modes each have their own upgrade path.
  • Tools no longer consume Power.
  • Mod slots are fewer, but each mod is stronger.
  • All transform modes are available from the mode wheel, and width is adjustable.
  • Skyblazer adds flight, with Hover Thrusters as a separate upgrade.
  • Seed Minigun turns the Seed Shooter into a rapid-fire planter.
  • Sprout Volley lets the Sprout Cannon charge and fire several sprouts at once.
  • The Spike Saw deals 25 percent more damage to weak points.

If you had a maxed tool in Early Access, expect to re-earn part of that power. The upgrade guide → covers the new tracks and what to upgrade first.

What quality-of-life fixes are in 1.0?

The patch is unusually heavy on friction removal:

  • Deliveries can be queued and launched in batches.
  • The delivery menu is simpler and the total requirements were reduced.
  • Day transitions are seamless; there is no loading break at midnight.
  • Weather changes hourly and is visible in the HUD.
  • Tornadoes no longer chase the player and deal less damage.
  • Lola can recover lost trailers and items for a fee.
  • The map has a Resource Scanner, nameable stamps, and shows animals and trailers.
  • Planning Mode previews buildings as holograms before you commit.
  • New decorations unlock at 16 and 31 deliveries, including bathroom and kitchen sets.
  • Coziness buffs: Homestead Swiftness gives +50 percent movement speed inside the homestead, and Eco Driving cuts fuel use by 20 percent.
  • The H.O.E. can lay paths.
  • Inventory and storage capacity are roughly ten times larger; crop weight is unchanged.
  • Glo Trees now produce 15 fruit per cycle, and large trees drop ordinary Wood instead of Hardwood.

Is 1.0 worth returning for?

Yes, if you bounced off the Early Access grind. The combination of earlier automation, tenfold storage, seamless days and a real ending fixes the three most common complaints: inventory pressure, waiting, and a campaign that went nowhere. The new regions are a bonus rather than the main event.

If you never played, start with the beginner guide →. If you are deciding whether to buy, the review → covers performance, co-op and value at $23.99.
